Bogged down

We all got rather wet and muddy on Saturday when we planted the bog area. We were joined by a group of 12-13 year olds from a local arts project, Rise Phoenix. Between us all we managed to plant some water loving plants such as water avens, meadowsweet, rushes, ragged robin and purple loosestrife.

Although boards were put down to cover the surrounding grass, by the time we had finished it wasn't just the bog that looked like a quagmire! Grass recovers very quickly so we weren't too worried.

The bog is adjacent to the pond and will provide cover and shelter for animals such as frogs which for example could use the log piles for hibernating in.
